Fairgrounds tax faces opposition

Members of the Chickasha Fairgrounds Board say they have received mostly positive reactions to the proposed continuance of the 1 4 cent sales tax used to fund improvements to the facility but encourage people to vote as opposition still exists.

Verden to face Union City in Grady County Tournament final

Verden reached the finals by beating Amber-Pocasset and Rush Springs. The Redskins will play in the third-place game at 3 p.m. against Ninnekah, and Minco will play Amber-Pocasset in the consolation final at 1. The Grady County Junior High Baseball Tournament final between Ninnekah and Rush Springs will be played at Alex High School at 11 a.m.

False alarms burn fire department

False alarms are not always a relief. Grady County fire departments have been getting fire calls only to find that the fire was a control burn, Dale Thompson, Grady County Emergency Management Director, said.
