A man working a location near the 3900 block of Reese Drive in Venus on Monday alerted Johnson County Sheriff's Office deputies after he saw several dogs tied up in a backyard that appeared to be in distress.

ARLINGTON -- Christian Pointer crouched down on the tennis court during her lesson Wednesday, quickly rolled the yellow foam ball to her partner and waited her turn to catch it.
Then the 6-year-old Arlington girl bobbed around the court, bumping the ball straight up in the air with her racket and working to keep it from hitting the ground. The games Christian played are designed to help her develop her hand-eye coordination and learn to track the ball's path with her eyes, skills she'll need once she starts rallying the ball against opponents.
