Local and state politicians, dock workers and just about anyone curious gathered to dedicate the brand-new Alaska Ship and Drydock assembly hall in Ketchikan on March 26.

The Alaska National Guard brought Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and holiday gifts to the village as part of Operation Santa Claus.

At her Monday sentencing, Sonja Yatlin cried and apologized to the family of Yolanda "Rocky" Rockar, who died nine days after she was struck by Yatlin's vehicle May 31, 2011.

The approaching holidays bring another year of Operation Santa Claus for the Alaska National Guard.

This year the Guard will play Santa in four communities, visiting Northway on Nov.
