Five University of Kansas students have received outstanding achievement awards from the Kansas Geological Survey, based on KU's west campus.
Many people found their homes in Kansas as a part of the Orphan Train program run by the Children's Aid Society and the New York Foundling Hospital from 1854 to 1929.
