Volunteers, donations needed for Thanksgiving dinner
Donations and volunteers are needed for the 19th annual Thanksgiving dinner at Cannon Street Elementary School, sponsored by Jake Sessions' "Up All Night" show on TV-33. About 1,200 mostly homebound residents were served in 2008, and 2,000 or more are expected this year.
The east Alabama town of Valley is ending a furlough program for city workers. Mayor Arnold Leak began the furloughs in January because the city was having financial problems.
