At 4:30 p.m., there are reports of delays in the early commute through Union County on Route 22 West between the Garden State Parkway and Michigan Avenue in Union and on Route 1&9 in both directions in the area of North Avenue in Elizabeth.

The worst was northbound on the Garden State Parkway, with a 10-mile backup around 4:45 p.m. from south of Exit 136 in Clark to Exit 145 in East Orange.

WOODBRIDGE - Heavy traffic is causing problems on the Garden State Parkway this morning, backing up cars and trucks for eight miles, according to 511nj.org. The delays are in the northbound lanes from just south of the Colonia Service Area in Woodbridge to Exit 140, U.S. 22 in Union, according to the report.

As of 4:15 p.m. 511nj.org is reporting an accident that has closed the left lane of Route 1&9 South at Wood Avenue in Linden.
