A Tunkhannock Township man admitted to police he shot to death an associate, left him to die in the middle of an isolated intersection in the Poconos, hid the murder weapon and tried to get rid of evidence that could implicate him, police said in an arrest affidavit filed Tuesday.
Fritz Gerald DeJoie Jr., 21, of 260 Martha Lane, told investigators he shot Steven Richard Santillo four times with a .40-caliber handgun, which he broke apart and hid in two places, the affidavit said.

The crime scene resembled a shooting, but officials would not comment on how Steven Richard Santillo, 46, of Blakeslee was killed.
The motorist found Santillo about 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Hypsie Gap and Laurel roads, state police at Fern Ridge said.
The road was closed about four hours but after it was reopened there were more than a dozen small circles on the pavement, which typically indicate where bullet casings are found.

Bethlehem Authority eyes new Tunkhannock land rules
Proposed designation changes to Bethlehem Authority land in Monroe County may affect any future sale of the property.
Tunkhannock Township, where a chunk of the property is located, is finalizing an ''official map'' that designates land the township wants to keep as open space or for some other public purpose, such as a future highway.
If a development plan is proposed for land designated on the map, the township would have the option of buying the land first.
While the Bethlehem Authority is not planning to sell any land to developers, members are still trying to understand the effect the official map would have on real estate prices.
