The Dothan Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/1e3Jofy ) that the school has joined the Institute for International Education's "Generation Study Abroad" initiative. About 2 percent of Troy's students born in the U.S. go on study abroad programs. University officials would like to see that rise to 9 percent by the end of the decade. The university has created the Chancellor's Award for Global Competitiveness that will provide $750 in scholarships for qualifying Troy students who study abroad.
