DEP Releases New Report on TCE in Collegeville Area

Subject: DEP Air Monitoring Information
As you may know, DEP conducted a short-term, intensive air sampling effort from October 15-18, 2007 in the Collegeville area using the agency's Mobile Analytical Unit in conjunction with 24-hour canister sampling. The resulting data will supplement DEP's information on atmospheric levels of TCE in the area, help gauge the effects of voluntary TCE emission reduction efforts to date, and guide DEP's future air monitoring efforts in the area.
The associated report and resulting data have been posted on DEP's Collegeville Area Air Monitoring Web site. This site can be accessed via DEP's main Web page,
www.depweb.state.pa.us, DEP Keyword "Collegeville" .
Our agency will continue to monitor in Collegeville and at Evansburg State Park. In addition, the agency will be expanding its air monitoring efforts thanks to a Community-Scale Air Toxics Ambient Monitoring grant recently awarded by EPA. Information gained from the intensive sampling during the week of Oct. 15, 2007 will help determine the location of additional sampling.
DEP will schedule another public meeting during the first quarter of 2008 to discuss the progress made to reduce TCE emissions in the Collegeville area during the past year, and the resulting impact on ambient air quality levels of TCE and its associated risk.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
