Step up Torrance

Torrance made skateboarding almost everywhere in the city illegal because this one skate park was there for the kids to use. I was vehemently against that policy when it went in place and still feel the same way. Torrance needs to look at a permanent no cost to the skaters solution (skateparks throughtout the city) so that all skaters have a place to go.

My kids skate there. I'd be happy to see a 7 day a week, no-cost park. Right now we pay $3.00 per session and it's only open Fri-Sat-Sun.

They should ban skateboarding period. The little jerk usually, and probabbly in this case tore-up the park themselves. The Catholic Church near my house had to put up rails and barriers on theyre stairs, which make it difficult for the older people to get in now, just because the little shits thought it was cool to "grind" the edges of the stairs off. We have a great park, thats free just 8 blocks away from that church, but these kids only wanted to tear up the church because they put signs up saying No Skateboarding. I guess though that its ok to do this stuff when your a kid because the parents, who are usually as dumb as theyre kids protested the church not allowing the kids to ride there. Im sure to get a blast from most if not all of you, but I dont care. They should make it legal to run over these little bastards.

I listened to my parents always, obeyed the law enough to say never been in jail, or gotten a ticket ever, etc..., and I am 44! Yes, I believe I am fortunate, I grew up back when kids could do alot more stuff, and now kids are extremly limited due to gangs, petifiles, etc. HOWEVER, I also believe that most kids these days are just rotten, and theyre parents worst. People these days are just way different lacking politeness, RESPECT for others property, the way they treat theyre teachers is criminal, just a bunch of spoiled kids and parents running around wanting somrthing for nothing.

OK, I quit......It is sorta hopeless when so many expect their cities, or states, or the Guvment to do everything for them. Nobody that has commented has suggested that maybe, just maybe since it is theyre kids that want to use something like this, that maybe there is some very talented contractors of all kinds that live in the area, that could get together and re-build this place. Why should the city do it, and then not charge for the use? I would have loved to have a free babysitter when my kids were growing up, but hay, no free lunch. Why should the tax payers of Torrance pay for something like this? I agree, wholeheartedly, that the kids need someplace to do this activity, but it seems that the parents are expecting alot. Free use, city re-build, what about the guys that have to run it? I guess they will have to volunteer theyre time? The same people that are screeming about it closing are the same ones that would be first in line to sue the crap outa the place if Jr gets hurt. Oh yes, I forgot, the waiver!! Not worth the paper its written on in court.

I'd rather see my Torrance tax dollars go towards upgrading the skatepark instead of being wasted on the military parades the city holds each year.

OK Bigboy, maybe, just maybe you could take some the time you have on your hands and enroll in an adult education ESL class....your spelling is horrendous!
Now back to the issue at hand. I am the mom of one of the little "jerk/bastards you would like to run over" and I believe that the kids in our community need a safe place to skate. You mentioned the kids skating on private property as a problem, but you are also against giving them a place to do it safely and legally.....whats next for you taking away all public parks so toddlers cannot use the swings and slides? After all why should your "tax dollars" pay for a 2 year old to swing??? You are truly an idiot.

Do it for the kids

Lots of good kids use that skatepark, keeps them from skating on private property and other unsafe or less than safe locations.
We were all kids once, either bmx or skating or something. If we keep taking all the local opportunity from the kids, we will lose what makes the city of Torrance special, not like many of the crime ridden cities arounds us who care much less for their children.
So cough up the $$$$ and get a concrete skatepark in place, we should really consider it.

I never said I was against them having a place to scate, I just feel that if it going to be, it shouldnt be at the taxpayers expence. My father, a veteren who fought for this country years ago is forced to live on an income that wouldnt even pay your gardener, and HE should be taxed more so that people like you,and the others that love the oportunity to have someone else watch your kids, for free? Call me what you will, it probabbly takes away the pain of the attention your not getting anymore that you need, but it looks like I am the only one here right now with a brain, AND common sence. And as for the 2 year old on the swing, at least they are not pestering people on theyre way to the park by darting out in front of them off the sidewalk, or causing trouble for the guy at 7-11.
