The chain link fence is up and earth was moved last week to make way for Toledo's new $3 million water treatment plant. The facility will replace the aged plant in the background which was built in 1965 and upgraded in the mid-1980s.

Wanted man held in Florida on Tama County sex abuse charges

A former Tama County man who was sentenced in District Court in Toledo last year is under arrest in Florida on new Tama County charges. Stewart David Smith 52, is reported by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office to have been living in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Nathaniel Scott Akers, 31, Traer, entered guilty pleas to a series of charges stemming from a domestic assault case on May 24. Akers was sentenced to a suspended two-year prison term and was fined $625 on a charge of assault on a peace officer. He was accused of assaulting Tama County Deputy Sheriff Bryan Ellenbecker during his arrest.

T-T Car Show - Cruise set Sept. 20

Antiques, street rods, muscle cars and more will fill the streets of downtown Tama for the annual Car Show and Cruise on Saturday, Sept. 20. Following the awards ceremony at 4 p.m. the vehicles will cruise from downtown Tama to downtown Toledo and return.

Budget Inn Option signed

New family-style apartment housing on the closed Budget Inn motel site in Toledo now appears to rest solely on approval of funding from Community Development Block Grant 2008 flood money. Bob Rafferty, attorney for developer Newbury Living, confirmed in an email last week to Toledo City Clerk Janet Kriegel, an option on the property has been signed by the owner.

Mounted on the west side of the campus it is a historical marker recognizing the colleges which formed the original campus in Toledo until closing in 1918.
