After plea deal Tama woman appeals 10-years in prison
A notice of appeal of a 10-year prison sentence handed down to Noelle Courtney Youngbear, 36, Tama, on Friday, June 27, was filed on Monday, June 30. Youngbear was released from custody at the Tama County Jail in Toledo on a $25,000 appeal bond posted on Tuesday, July 1 a jail spokesperson said.

Water rate hike seen for Toledo
Water rates in Toledo are likely headed up. Toledo City Council members set a hearing on the proposed hike for July 14 during their regular meeting on Monday, June 23. The boost probably shouldn't come as a surprise as construction on a new $3 million water treatment plant is set to begin in July.
Flooding slowing traffic on U.S. 30 Expressway west of Toledo
Flooding from the Iowa River has been reported slowing the flow of traffic on the U.S. Highway 30 Expressway near the Iowa River bridge about six miles west of Toledo or two miles north of Montour.

Salvador Cruz, 27, who walked away from a Marshalltown Work Release Facility on Feb. 20 has been in jail in Polk County since April 3 the Tama County Sheriff's Office confirmed to The News-Herald.
