A fire that consumed a Whitemarsh Island apartment building has displaced more than 20 residents, according to Southside Fire/EMS. Firefighters were dispatched to the Island Tree Apartments, on Johnny Mercer Boulevard, shortly after 2:30 a.m., encountering flames shooting from the top floors of an eight-unit building, Southside Fire/EMS Asst.
