No takers for several town-owned lands along midcoast

Thomaston has been trying to entice developers for several years to develop land on Route 1 zoned for commercial and residential uses, and Camden has 3 acres it has tried to give away to any business willing to create jobs, but both communities have not found takers for their properties.

Maine environmental board OKs higher mercury emissions for Dragon...

The Maine Board of Environmental protection will permit the Dragon Cement plant in Thomaston to operate under federal emissions standards that almost double the amount of mercury the plant could release into the air if it returns to or exceeds its highest level of production, reached in 2004.
