T-Acadie plays at the Academy
The Cajun-oriented band T-Acadie will close out a year of Thomaston contra dances Saturday, Dec. 28, beginning 8 p.m. at the Thomaston Academy gym on Main Street/Route 1. Band member Bill Olson will call, and all dances will be taught.
Seniors enjoy holiday luncheon at Samoset
More than 40 senior citizens from the area enjoyed the annual luncheon put on by The Samoset Resort Dec. 13. The resort has been organizing the luncheon for more than 20 years - served up by the more than 15 members of management team.

Flannel Shirt contra at Watts Hall
A special benefit contra dance with Perpetual e-Motion, one of the most popular dance bands in the Northeast, is set for Friday, Dec. 20, at Watts Hall, Main Street/Route 1, beginning 8 p.m. Proceeds will support the Flannel Shirt Fund, which helps kids in school plant, grow and harvest gardens; and prepare their own food.

Hearts and minds were filled with the spirit of the holiday following the fourth annual Jingle Bell Express sponsored by Rockland Kiwanis Dec. 6 and 7. Vote on Knox County budget Dec. 5
The proposed 2014 Knox County budget, totaling $9.6 million, is slated for a vote by the Knox County Commission and budget committee Thursday, Dec. 5. The budget is 1 percent less than last year's approved figure, down about $84,000, and will require a slightly lower tax commitment from county municipalities.
