Former Knox County Jail guard arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot wife

A 61-year-old former Knox County Jail guard, who was awaiting trial for allegedly sexually assaulting female inmates, is behind bars again after being charged with threatening to shoot his wife. Richard S. Wellington was arrested Thursday night and charged by Thomaston police with domestic violence terrorizing and violating a condition of release.

Youthlinks receives $15,000 from Quimby Family Foundation

The funds will be used to expand the summer pilot Student Garden Army into a sustainable year-round program for middle and high school students in the greater Rockland region - Rockland, Cushing, St. George/Tenants Harbor,Thomaston, South Thomaston, and Owls Head. Youth, 11 to 17 years old living in towns served by Regional School Unit 13 will have an opportunity to participate in the program that teaches young people to learn to grow, cook, and eat healthy food and to make food choices that positively impact their health, and that of their community and their world.

Minor injuries reported in motorcycle crash

Knox County Sheriff's Office along with Warren Fire and Rescue responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and two other vehicles at the intersection of Western Road and Route 90 at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 11. According to witnesses and people involved, a 2005 Subaru, driven by Ann Robison, 63, of Thomaston had stopped at the intersection on Western Road, and then proceeded to cross, heading south.

Maine lobstermen catch 2 albino lobsters in week

The Portland Press Herald reports Bret Philbrick caught the curious crustacean off of Owls Head on Thursday and Joe Bates caught one off the Rockland breakwater days earlier. Albino lobsters are believed to be about one in 100 million.
