Flannel Shirt contra at Watts Hall
A special benefit contra dance with Perpetual e-Motion, one of the most popular dance bands in the Northeast, is set for Friday, Dec. 20, at Watts Hall, Main Street/Route 1, beginning 8 p.m. Proceeds will support the Flannel Shirt Fund, which helps kids in school plant, grow and harvest gardens; and prepare their own food.

Regional School Unit 13 chairman Esther "Tess" Kilgour refused to comment about why an agenda item to decide on the Superintendent Lew Collins' contract was removed from the Dec. 5 meeting.
Vote on Knox County budget Dec. 5
The proposed 2014 Knox County budget, totaling $9.6 million, is slated for a vote by the Knox County Commission and budget committee Thursday, Dec. 5. The budget is 1 percent less than last year's approved figure, down about $84,000, and will require a slightly lower tax commitment from county municipalities.
