Making an informed choice

How should towns nominate their town officer candidates?

That was the question posed in last week's edition in a story from Fairlee as some community members seek to change the nomination process in that town. It's a question that is a valid one, not just in Fairlee, but for many towns throughout Vermont as well. Bradford, Groton, Ryegate and Topsham all elect officers in a similar manner, while Corinth, Newbury, Thetford, Vershire and West Fairlee elect theirs by Australian ballot.
