A 'teaching perspective' in Tewksbury

Full story: Lowell Sun

To the concerned parents, the School Committee members and all citizens of Tewksbury: Amid the rush of the first eight weeks of school, we sit and we breathe, and we share our hopes, frustrations, challenges and goals that are common to all teaching professionals.

The Tewksbury teachers should really shut up. Do your job and stop trying to portray yourselves as working for the kids, we have seen and heard many times how it's all about the money with you.
Look we all want more money but in this economy we're just lucky to have jobs and benefits. Keep yapping about it, your just proving what your really about.
whatever

Thank you for your post...we are all working longer for less right now...we fully support our son both academically & at home...nice to know that the teachers are doing the same...takes a lot of guts to place your editorial...Please ignore the previous comments from those who have a lot to say but nothing worth print...they have an ax to grind but no where to place it....

Comments 1,2,3 show no understanding of what teaching is all about and what the situation is really about in Tewksbury. I think you need to get your undergraduate degree in education, then a master's degree, and teach in the Tewksbury school system for a number of years to fully understand the real issues at hand. Only in Tewksbury does this ugly attitude rear its ugly head! Shame on you!! Thank you to the Heath Brook School teachers for being so eloquent.

You describe yourself as working part-time? What propaganda, or should I ask what are you smoking? You self-absorbed teachers really get me laughing. Have it so bad, then go get a job in the real world. Then get back to me and let me know how bad you had it.

Again, I too wanted to puke when I read the poem.

What about all the people who got through school and couldn't read up to grade level, nor understand what they are reading. Teaching kids to read is their job. Just take care of the kids and be quiet and see what the court's decision is. Every time a lettre like this is written people think less of teachers. The letter really tests your gag reflex.

Teachers in Tewksbury work because they love the kids and genuinely want to make a difference, regardless of the outside pressure we are currently experiencing. Do we expect to be rich, no, however, when we leave the classrooms filled with your children we go home to our own. We have a responsibility to provide for own children as well. Tewksbury has amazing students, they are down to earth and smart, every day is an adventure we enjoy taking with your children.
