Driver In Crash That Killed Local Teen Was Legally Drunk

Calvin Vickers, 55, of Temple, whose pickup crossed into an oncoming lane and collided head-on with a car driven by a Temple High School senior, had a blood-alcohol content that was more than three times over the legal limit, police said Wednesday. Vickers was driving at about 63 miles per hour on May 2 when his pickup crossed into the eastbound lanes of Airport Road and struck an eastbound Volkswagen driven by Kimberlyn "Kimmy" Longbotham, 18, and a Toyota SUV police said.
