Track begins season at East Bakersfield Relays

Progress reported on GH sewage plant issues
The Kern County Board of Supervisors appointed a consulting firm last week to help find a solution to the sewage problems that have beleaguered the Golden Hills Sanitation Company since the privately-owned wastewater treatment plant went into receivership in April 2012.

NWS issues Wind Advisory for March 11 through March 12
A Wind Advisory has been issued for the Kern County Mountains and Deserts by the National Weather Service in Hanford, which will be in effect starting 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12. The NWS predicts east winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

Law enforcement wait outside of Tompkins Elementary School on Friday, March 7 after it was reported around 1:45 p.m. that a man with a weapon fired it towards the school.

Suspect wanted for using counterfeit bill
Tehachapi Police are asking for help identifying a man who allegedly passed a counterfeit $100 bill at the Get Dressed Boutique in downtown Tehachapi on Tuesday, March 4. The suspect is described as a white adult male, five feet eight inches to five feet ten inches tall, 190 pounds with short dark hair.
