The 29th annual Ohio River Sweep will be held Saturday, June 15 from 9 a.m. to noon and volunteers are needed to assist in this massive, six-state clean up.

John T. "Jack" Williams, 66, a lifelong Syracuse resident, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

The resignation of Doug Lavender as director of the Emergency Medical Services and 911 as well as Training Site Director, was accepted by the Meigs County Board of County Commissioners at its Thursday meeting.

He was born May 17, 1945, in Long Bottom, Ohio to Harry A. and Garnet F. Hayman who preceded him in death.

Two resolutions were approved for the Meigs County Department of Job and Family Services for services provided through the Meigs County Family and Children First Council.

Once again, bikers from across the area will gather for the 28th Meigs Memorial Day Run this weekend in Pomeroy.
