Memorial Day is nigh, and your plan to spend it on your roof sounds less desirable by the minute.

Once again the Downeast Dog Scouts have earned the Silver President's Volunteer Service Award for the year 2012! The Downeast Dog Scouts Troop 159 is a 501c3 non-profit subgroup of the Dog Scouts of America that was established in September 2007 as an all-volunteer affiliate of the Dog Scouts of America.

As part of the library's Historic Photography Lecture Series, Kevin will be delivering an illustrated talk, "Swan's Island: The Postcard View". This is a chance to hear the long and colorful history of the Eastern Illustrating company collection, accompanied by a slideshow of images from the island in the early 20th century.

James P. Chandler, Sr., 94, formerly of Swanville, passed away on March 30, 2013.
