Like most of the residents of Swannanoa, I had an opinion about incorporation and looked forward to the time I could express it at the poles. Debate is what our country is founded on and our fore fathers created the best way for all the citizens to be able to express their opinion through the voting process. I always look forward to this process, but yesterday when I went to vote I found out that since the voting district map was changed I was no longer eligible to vote on the issues in my own town. My mailing address is Swannanoa, my drivers license says Swannanoa and this is the town my husband grew up in. Suddenly we can only vote provisionally. This means we fill out a special ballot which is sealed in a special envelope and put aside for 2 weeks until the Board of Elections somewhere else decides if they will count it or not. This disturbs me more than the outcome of the vote. This takes away my, and many other citizens of Swannanoa, ability to exercise our rights as Americans. Do you see what is wrong with this picture?
