Federal funds for Lauxmont land acquisition to be used differently

Full story: The York Daily Record

A million dollars of federal transportation enhancement money that was intended to be spent on land acquisition for a park at Lauxmont Farms in Lower Windsor Township will now likely be used for other improvements, such as a river walk and parking.

Why not put it back into the American till? Haven't we wasted enough tax money on that foolish venture?

How much more $hit can we dump into that cesspool of a project. The million dollars will more than likely be spent on the ever present further study/drawings phase of the project. And the Indians buried there are truly the only ones who understand those "planning studies"; we certainly have not learned our lesson. Then again, most of us told them that we did not want this fiasco. Just another park for the faggots to display their wares.

I really don't want to see tax dollars spent to build a boat ramp that will duplicate those already there, and will compete with private marinas. Also there is plenty of river access and parking already down near Shanks Mare. This is just an excuse for Mark Platts to keep the money, instead of turning it back to the Treasury. He probably is going to put his scrawny wife, landscape architect Bess Simons, on the payroll.

Some people just can't get past all that old Lauxmont crap and see this for what it is - York County residents get to benefit from federal dollars that would otherwise go to Philly or P'burgh or somewhere else. I say great job to Penndot and and the heritage group on working out a plan to use it build something for us to enjoy with our families and visitors. And with all the money that the current commissioners spent to make to make the Kohrs shut up we sure as heck ought to have more stuff built to help us use the place - which is stunningly beautiful by the way. Maybe all you negatoids can just stay away and let the good people enjoy it.

I that's the main problem johnny. The attitude that if we don't waste it, someone else will. So better us than them. And that's why the dollar is in the toilet and gold is at an all time high.

I agree. Get rid of all socialist taxes. I am tired of paying for public parks that I don't use. You want grass to run around in. Then buy a house with a yard. Get rid of public libraries. You want to read, buy a book. Support your local bookstore not a taxpayer funded library. Get rid of public schools. You have kids, pay to educate them yourselves. Get rid of state colleges. You want your kids to have a college education, then pay for it. You had the kids. Start charging a user fee per kid for health care.

DUMP SOCIAL SECURITY NOW as it is bankrupting this county and isn't going to be here for anyone under the age of 30 as it is. Stop fleecing the young wage earners. Dump that socialist program Medicare too. It is bankrupting the country too. Look at the health care protests, the senior citizens don't want government health care so give them what they want. ELIMINATE MEDICARE and SOCIAL SECURITY NOW!

How about using it to payoff the debt the county owes on this elephant? I hope Mitrick is really happy about how she wasted ALL our money.

When money that has been granted for one purpose is redirected and spent for something else, it would seem that you have the classic definition of "misappropriation of government funds".

Why is no one challenging this?

And why has there been no petition for the state to conduct a complete and thorough investigation of the entire Lauxmont fiasco?

There should be an investigation as to why the Commissioners did not appeal the exorbitant award given to the Lancaster developer. Nothing done by them; determined to make an example of "taking from the many to give to the few".

I see the nut cases are still out there raving about Lauxmont...funny how they rant on and on about some good people trying to build nice things down by the river for all of us to enjoy but have little to say about the Kohrs decades of nefarious activities or the pay-off they got from their pal Chronister...now that calls for an investigation! Otherwise guys, get over it and go rail about something else for a day, will ya?

A complete investigation would resolve your concerns. Glad to see you agree with me that a thorough investigation is called for!
