Though tiny, the community is deciding whether to become city after 50 years. Rossmoor is a lovely place to grow old, as many of its original residents will tell you.
As you may have noticed, the Huntington Beach Independent has gone through a metamorphosis.
Restaurant Review:Authentic, plentiful Chinese cuisine
Community redevelopment always makes me shudder, especially in the suburbs. When a land owner decides to remodel places like Panda Palace, customers usually pay the price.

Birding fans set to take a walk
“It's fun and everybody learns something and gets to see something. Weather permitting, of course. If it's bad weather, the birds lay low and it's not quite as nice, but hopefully we'll have a good day.”
Bird is the word at the Museum of Coastal Carolina this weekend.
The museum will hold its annual bird walk and fundraiser Saturday, starting at Ingram Planetarium at 9 a.m. and lasting until noon.
Kurt Hugelmeyer, the bird expert for the museum, has been doing birding for several years.
'We started it not too long ago, maybe four or five years. But I've been birdwatching for 30 or more years. We do the Audubon Christmas walk at Huntington Beach. We walk over ponds, woods, near the ocean, and look for and identify birds. Last year we identified 39 species,' Hugelmeyer said. Read more
