County property tax rates to change

Las Cruces homeowners will see a property tax rate increase, while commercial and vacant properties will see a slight dip, according to a tax schedule approved Thursday by the Dona Ana County Commission.

If the county boosts this then they need to drop sales tax they are getting us on the front and back end, that is totally highway robery... we need to vote out these people that think like this! seems they are taking lessons from Washington.

County has nothing to do with property tax rates. That's set by the state up in Santa Fe (DFA). It's a formality to have the commission approve it but they are powerless to change it. At least not without some extraordinary means and I've never seen it done.
