Rod Wright sentenced to 90 days in residency case
For his conviction on eight felony counts over lying about where he lived when he ran in 2008, state Sen. Roderick Wright was sentenced Friday to 90 days in the Los Angeles County jail system. He also has to serve 1,500 hours of community service and three years' probation.

Man arrested on attempted murder charge following stabbing incident in August
A 21-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend's current boyfriend during a fight in Burbank last month, police said. Police arrested Daniel Johnson, of Sun Valley, during a traffic stop around 4 p.m. in the area of Hollywood Way and Keswick Street, during which police recognized the man as the possible suspect and discovered the outstanding warrant for his arrest, said Burbank Police Officer Cindy Guillen.

Sentencing for former City Councilman Richard Alarcón and his wife, Flora, was continued Wednesday amid the couple's request for a new trial. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge George Lomeli granted a request by District Attorney Jackie Lacey's office to continue the sentencing hearing until Oct. 14. The D.A. wants more time to reply to the Alarcóns' petition, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
