Beach Booze Enforcement Goes Plain
A late-season uptick in complaints about liquor consumption on the beach prompted Stone Harbor Police Chief Thomas Schutta to incorporate plainclothes patrols into the normal enforcement efforts on the borough's beaches. Schutta explained at a borough council meeting Aug. 21 that police had issued summons regarding 10 violations of the alcohol regulations since Memorial Day with three of those following on the heels of the recent plainclothes enforcement initiative.
