Parenting. Drug abuse could be avoided through good parenting and we wouldn't have to rely so much on the cops. Today, too many parents are methheads, cokeheads, potheads, and, in general, poor role models for their crotchfruit.

It's time for parents to shape up and begin acting as responsible adults. Throw the druggies out of your home or drive them over to the police station and have them booked for illegal activities and never allow them to return. That's how we'll clean up our streets and neighborhoods.

the bust had nothing to do with bjs. It just seems funny that it is in same story. But I am sure we will see more here with mg.

we have so many druggies in steele that they target the young innocent kids long before the parents ever catch on. they befriend them through their younger siblings and then introduce them to drugs at a young age. parents need to be aware that when your child has a NEW friend, check out the entire family. check their older brothers and sisters and parents. see if they have been in prison before or have had a history of drugs. that will give you a very big clue that although the young NEW friend may be innocent too, it won't be long until the adults have you child going down the wrong path of drug abuse and addiction FOR LIFE.

I agree; prevention must start early and that's excellent advice you've given.

Drug abuse is a disgrace to us as a people and has greatly weakened our ability to defend our nation. Do you remember when druggies were considered "scum?" What happened? We allowed the USA to become Elvis Presley -- fat, drugged, and on the crapper. Let's find a way to restore the sense of shame that these users should have for their actions.

You can not judge some child by what their parents have done or there family. Some of the smartest people in the world have came from family's that where nothing but dope heads please don't judge by someones family member.

True; but let's not count on it. While it is, indeed, amazing how great people can come from very troubled homes, it's much better when they are provided when proper role models. There's just no getting around the fact that children are like sponges -- always watching, always learning. The teacher must be very good if results are to be guaranteed.

You got that one right. The people around here treat a drug dealer like royalty. If your not on drugs your not "in". They need to be treated the way you said-SCUM!!

i'm not saying to judge the child by their family members. so many children are innocent but come from undesireable homes. if your child befriends another child that comes from an irresonsible and drug infested home, you surely do not want that friendship to develop to the point that your child will be exposed to the drug environment because of the friends family. it happens and it happens right here in steele. the child may be innocent but druggies want EVERY child to be introduced and addicted to drugs.

I'm with you 100% on that. I think it can and must change. Strong voices are needed to combat these toxic individuals. It's hard to fathom the mindset of someone who would make the decision to "follow" the drugged crowd rather than embracing what was once common sense.

Our attitudes have changed. We've been drenched in it through movies and music. 100 years ago people kept it secret because attitudes were different. It is a shame that we have come to this. I doubt if there is 1 town in this country that doesn't have this problem. Raymond I think you give good advice if only it worked that way. I had a friend once, wife was on drugs. He called and talked to everyone trying to get this woman help. He called the police to his home, he called this one and that one... no one would do anything. The only advice he got... was take her to a rehab hospital. It seemed like all of these different places were just overwhelmed with this problem and didn't want one more. This was Dunklin County. I say just continue to bust them out, let them know they can't stay here and do it.Send a message Steele is not for druggies.

i have had the same problem in pemiscot county. when you try to seek help even for a 16 year old, you are told that they are adults and there is nothing anyone can do about it. no one cares what happens to the ones already addicted and when they do die from the drugs, the community, as a whole, just chalks it up as another drug addict out of steele. good riddance, glad they are gone.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Virgo

You're struggling to get everything finished in time today, making you feel fractious and tired. At some point you may have to take a pragmatic decision about which tasks must be completed today and which will have to be postponed until another day. Do your best to keep things in proportion otherwise you'll waste time in trivial details and needless nit-picking.
