Star Post Office Assists Our Neighbors

Ray Ohlaug is the Sunday School Superintendent at the Friendship Celebration Lutheran Church in Meridian. The Sunday School at the church has been fund-raising, along with the entire congregation, since last fall. The goal was to assemble care packages for service men and women serving in Iraq. They collected funds to purchase the goods, and some were donated, and they also collected the money to pay for the postage to mail the packages. Captain Ray Ayers is a former member of the congregation and recently became an Army Reserve Chaplain. He relocated to Illinois and was deployed to Iraq, where he is currently leading the 327th MP Battalion. He has assisted with the effort from Iraq and will ensure the packages are delivered once they arrive.

Our Class Hero

Wes Belau (Be-Law) is our class' hero because of the sacrifice that he has made for his family and the way that he is a friend to us.

Wes has a story that will make you remember what is the most important in life and we want to share this with you.

Wes came to Star, Idaho in October of this year to live with his grandparents, Fred and Peggy Belau. His two younger sisters also came to live in Idaho at this time. The reason for their move was because their two-year brother, Dayne, was suffering from an immune disorder and he needed to be hospitalized in a different state. Wes' parents needed to stay with Dayne and take care of him. Dayne needed a bone marrow transplant in order to be saved. It was discovered that Wes was a perfect bone marrow match for Dayne. This meant that Wes would soon be known as the "family pin-cushion."
