I hope Mr. Welsh can fill Mr. Stearns shoes. Mr. Stearn believes in freedom and openness.

How in the world did a democrat become supervisor of St. Thomas in the first place?

That had to have been an accident.

If you mean Stearn, he's a republican.

I believe his wife is the D.

From the article:

"In St. Thomas Township, newcomer Dennis L. Welsh Jr., a Republican, unseated Democrat Frank Stearn in the bid to become township supervisor."

Seems pretty clear to me.

But, like I said, either him being listed as a democrat is a mistake, or him getting elected as a democrat is a mistake.

There's like 2 democrats in St. Thomas and they're probably livestock.

Quite possibly a mistake...I remember being drenched in irony as I campaigned for a Republican...

So here are my questions... what was wrong with Stearn and what makes Welsh better?

I realize that St. Thomas is no prize...

Stearn was part of the "No Quarry" effort. The quarry issue was more or less settled shortly after his term began. I think he changed focus to openness in govt for the remainder of his term. Stearn was intelligent, well spoken...and completely out of place on that board.

I do not think healthy competition is wrong. Why is it so wrong that someone brought competition at the request of community members.

You sound as if you know him, but clearly you don't have a clue. I have known Denny for years and that just does NOT sound even remotely close to his character.

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Leo

Even though you usually pride yourself on being the strong silent type, love has a way of unlocking your tongue. The words coming out of your mouth may be familiar, but your sense of timing makes all the difference right now. Keep in mind that you never know how a risky gesture will work out, although you can always hope for the best. When in doubt, take the more cautious path.
