Three years after conviction, former Sparta mayor to be resentenced
The attorney for a former Sparta mayor and police captain who an appeals panel all but said should go to prison for using police databases to conduct unauthorized background checks on people has said his client may appeal the ruling to the state Supreme Court. In ordering that former Sparta Mayor Brian Brady be resentenced, a state appeals panel found last Friday that the one year of unsupervised probation Brady received three years ago was too lenient a sentence given the severity of his crimes.
