Spanish Lake Casino Opponents Set to Picket County Planning Commission Meeting Tonight

I can't believe we might lose out on badly needed development because of a handful of people are rubbed the wrong way by a casino.
I guess the only development we will see are a few roadside flowers left overgrown next to a building abandoned for decades. Ever hear the term 'lipstick on a pig'
Do we really need a Community Association that spends its time planting flowers and spending 10 years/a half million dollars rehabing one building that is still an unusable eyesore?
The proposed section of riverview currently looks like an auto salvage yard and dump. What exactly are some of you trying to preserve? Because your arguments about a scenic area are WAY off.
If the SLCA finds away to block yet another badly needed development, I for one will be very upset. If this group feels the need to medle in the affairs of this community, they need to be held accountable. Their personal views continue to affect this community in negative ways.
If all they can provide this community are flowers and collecting money and free labor to dump into a money pit, they need to step aside and allow those who can offer growth in this community to do so.

T. Krieger are you nuts or just misinformed? The property they are talking about is all farm land. Right now it is all in corn or beans. That land is someones paycheck. It is a means to feed their children, pay their mortgage, bills, and etc. You talk about a salvage yard, that is an auto shop a well known one. One that does good work ask anyone who has lived around here for any amout of time and they will tell you to take your car there for repairs. I think you are the one who is way off here. I hope someday some business decides to move in next to your home and then take over your source of income. Then lets see how you sleep at night. Until then I hope you and peoplle like you think twice about spouting off about things you know nothing about. I agree that the Spanish Lake area needs some business to go in but a casino is known for drawing some crime. I for one think we have more than our share of that here now. In the future it would be appreciated if you comment on things you know about.
