Former jail guard convicted of sex assault against inmate
A 28-year-old former jail guard pleaded no contest to a charge of gross sexual assault Aug. 26 and was sentenced to two months in custody for having a sexual relationship with a former female inmate.

A 20-year-old South Thomaston man, arrested in April for his involvement in the theft of $200,000 from a Vinalhaven home, has been sentenced to serve seven months in jail.
