By DONNA RYDER Messenger Associate Editor Troy's mayor and board of aldermen want Obion County's governing body to realize Troy and other towns in the county need help to pay for rural fire calls outside their municipal limits.

The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Carroll County, northern Gibson County, eastern Obion County and Weakley Countil until 12:45 p.m. At 11:57 a.m., radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms producing penny-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.

Obion County School board members began a regular scheduled meeting at Black Oak Elementary, by acknowledging Black Oak Beta Club students, South Fulton Band members, and presenting certificates to teachers who recently received tenure.

Twenty teachers who completed the rigorous process to receive tenure have earned recognition from the Obion County School Board.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. May 15, Sgt. Rodney Mitchell with the South Fulton Police Department responded to a disturbance call at 116 Church St.
