The body of the operator of an overdue fishing vessel was found Tuesday night near New Topsail Inlet, according to Coast Guard.
Subway donates to Dixon Middle School
Dixon Middle School received a $510 donation from Subway in Sneads Ferry after the sub shop's first "Dixon Middle School Night." Amy and Link Cook, the owners of the Subway, set up "Dixon Middle School Night" to donate 20 percent of their net sales for an entire day on the third Thursday of every month throughout the school year.

Waterfront access projects selected
Eastern North Carolina is getting two new waterfront access sites. After reviewing 16 applicants from the southern coastal area of the state N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries will use money from the Waterfront Access and Marine Industry Fund for sites in Sneads Ferry and Hampstead.

Sneads Ferry: Dixon Bulldogs Soccer Reaches #2 in Coaches Poll
According to the Top 15 1-A Boy's soccer teams as ranked by the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association as of Monday, October 19, 2009, the Dixon Bulldogs are ranked #2 in the state behind East Montgomery. This is a move up from #3 last week in the same poll.
