Great job of reporting Times Standard.

There's a North Bank Road that runs from US199 to US101 along the north bank of the Smith River where this accident most likely occured.

There's also a North Bank Road that runs from State Route 299 to US101 just south of McKinleyville.

Do yourself a big favor and use Google Earth.

It's pretty sad the staff at the Times Standard can't even get the geography correct for a sympathy article. It's bad enough a 5 year old and their grandfather passed. To say it happened in McKinlyville is even more tragic.

anon and Steve McGregor, you are one and the same: a pathetic troll with noting to offer. reader is right. The Times Standard is a pathethic excuse for a newspaper.
It is pathetic they can't even get the right location of this tragedy. I hope the mother wasn't texting or talking on the phone. If so she should be charged with two counts of felony manslaughter and wreckless endangerment to her child leading to his tragic death.

Actually, you are all idiots. The accident was on highway 101 north of North Bank Road, in MCKINLEYVILLE, exactly where the article said it was. What a bucket of tards.?!?!?!

basically the Times Standard just updated the article by cutting and pasting the article from the Del Norte Triplicate:

http://www.triplicate.com/20091009107166/News...

This accident must have happened north of State Route 200, probably near the School Road exit as there are not many large trees along the higway immediately north of the Mad River.

Way to cover for yourself Times Standard. Plagiarizing another newspaper's news.

What's unbelieveable is that the side of the roadway along that stretch has those gooves in the pavement that cause a very loud vibration of the tires. 300 feet is about 4 seconds at around 65 miles per hour. Anyone who dozed off should have awoken by the tires running over the rumble strips.

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Taurus

It's no good - the prospect of visiting the post-Christmas sales has become too tempting for you to resist any longer. No matter what you're doing today, you'll try to squeeze in the opportunity to dash around some of your favourite shops and see what's on offer. You could snap up some bargains but you should guard against the urge to splurge on items that you don't really want or need. The price of something may have been slashed but the acid test is whether you'd still buy it if it were full price. If not, leave it in the shop!
