SVFD plans Wildfire Awareness activities
The potential for loss of human life and property due to wildfire is a growing concern in Smith Valley and southern Lyon County, and as a result, the Smith Valley Fire Protection District Board of Directors has passed a resolution promoting Nevada Wildfire Awareness Week on May 4-11. This year's theme is Reduce the Fuel-Reduce the Risk.
Local youths given Care Flight lifesaving award
Three local ninth grade students-two from Smith Valley and one from Yerington-were presented with a Care Flight Citizen Life Saver Award during the Lyon County Commission meeting last Thursday.
