Dyes Inlet closed to all shellfish harvesting

The Kitsap Public Health District and Washington State Department of Health have closed Dyes Inlet, including Oyster and Ostrich Bays, to all shellfish harvesting due to high levels of marine biotoxins that cause paralytic shellfish poisoning . This closure includes recreational harvest of all species of shellfish including clams, oysters, and mussels.

Navy personnel stopped at local airport checkpoint

Deputies at Albany International Airport were summoned by a TSA officer when an individual appeared to be in the possession of an Improvised Explosive Device. The deputies were called on September 11, 2014 at about 6:32 a.m., by the TSA Bomb Appraisal Officer when an individual was in possession of what appeared to be an IED at the checkpoint.
