MD: Proposed Metro budget includes increased rush-hour service, longer trains
Oct. 31--Frederick County commuters who use the Metro system would have increased rush-hour service to get them to and from work and longer trains throughout the day, under a budget proposal to be introduced Thursday. Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority General Manager and CEO Paul J. Wiedefeld's $3.4 billion fiscal 2020 budget proposal would also implement a $2 flat fare for weekend trips and run all Red Line trains to the eastern end of the line to increase rush-hour service to Glenmont and other stations.
