Charges were dismissed Wednesday in six cases involving alleged violations of the state's ban against smoking cigarettes in public.
Shorewood actually drops its tax rate
The village's tax levy will drop slightly for the 2009 tax year. The village board Tuesday approved the 2009 levy at a rate of .2477, a slight decrease over the 2008 rate of .2480. Trustee Daniel Gron said the decrease is because of $15.5 million of new property added to the tax base.
