If Mike Sevret of Wayne could be anywhere on the Fourth of July weekend, it would be nowhere else but the beach.

Heeding the requests of local businesses and politicians, the state Department of Transportation has agreed to postpone construction on the causeway to Long Beach Island until after Labor Day.

Construction scheduled to start July 20 on the Route 72 Dorland J. Henderson Memorial Bridge between Ship Bottom and Stafford will be postponed until after Labor Day to address residents' concerns about traffic.
