Michigan will close three prisons - including one maximum security prison - and five minimum security camps, as part of Gov.

The Department of Natural Resources today announced the Kingston Lake State Forest Campground, located 16 miles northeast of Melstrand in Alger County, will be temporarily closed beginning Monday, June 15.

Although it may not feel like summer yet, it's quickly approaching, along with the Lake Superior Theatre's 2009 season.

For months now, Shingleton had been buzzing with the rumor that Camp Cusino, a minimum-security camp, was on the chopping block.

Gov. Jennifer Granholm's administration will close three state prisons and all 5 of Michigan's minimum-security prison camps this year to save money.
