Afternoon police beat update includes truck striking manhole cover

n Brad Campbell, 23, of Academy Street, Shiloh was charged with possession of marijuana when police stopped his pickup truck at Main Road and Washington Avenue Monday night. n Desi A. Stroud, 54, of Upper Neck Road, Pittsgrove was served a warrant from Southampton Township Municipal Court. n Luis D. Navarro, 28, of South Myrtle Street was held on $14,450 bail on a warrant from Cum-berland County Superior Court and served a warrant for failure to appear in Franklin Township Municipal Court. n Robin Hardaway, 24, of the 400 block of Garrison Avenue, Millville was served a warrant from Vineland Municipal Court. n Jeneson Claudio, 27, of West Montrose Street was jailed on a no-bail warrant for violation of parole in Pennsylvania and served a warrant for failure to appear in Vineland Municipal Court. n Stephanie L. Williams, 20, of Fairton-Gouldtown Road, Bridgeton was jailed on a warrant from Cumberland County Superior Court. n Ferdinar Ortiz, 46, of Pine Hill was issued summonses for driving without insurance and careless driving following a wreck at Lincoln and Butler avenues Monday. n Someone stole a 1997 Nissan from Team Nissan in the 1700 block of South Delsea Drive. n A resident of the 3300 block of Mainview Terrace observed a man in his van Monday night on a surveillance camera but when he got outside the suspect was gone. n A large oak tree fell on a 1997 Ford van and a 1995 Ford pickup truck causing extensive dam-age in the 600 block of Grape Street early Sunday morning. n Someone stole a $50 exhaust fan from the concession stand at Cal Ripken National League field at 10th Street and Kates Boulevard. n Vandals slashed two tires on a car parked at Blockbuster Video on North High Street be-tween 6 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. n Elijah D. Cox, 19, of the 800 block of Sassafras Street was charged with obstruction and hin-dering apprehension and served a warrant for failure to appear in Millville Municipal Court. n Ray D. Bricker Jr., 27, of the 600 block of Whitehall Road, Newfield was served a warrant for failure to appear in Franklin Township Municipal Court. n Thomas L. Gaither, 71, of the 100 block of South 2nd Street was issued a summons for driving while his privilege is suspended after his 1993 Ford struck a manhole cover damaging the under-carriage of his truck at 3rd Street and Florence Avenue Saturday. Police said a city crew was working on a sewer about an hour earlier and workers returned after the mishap and reset the manhole cover. via Daily Journal
