A fire Tuesday that destroyed a vehicle in Sheffield is being investigated as suspicious, said Vermont State Police.
Jazz festival hit many high notes
Tonight's performance by Sheffield native Jennifer Hartswick at FlynnSpace concludes the 26th annual Burlington Discover Jazz Festival, which has ruled the city for more than a week with big-name headliners at the Flynn Center and lesser-known talented musicians getting it done on Church Street or in downtown's hopping clubs.

brFree Press Staff Report SHEFFIELD -- Three days after announcing a deal with Burlington Electric Department, Vermont Wind LLC said Thursday that Vermont Electric Cooperative, Inc. has agreed to buy 50 percent of the Sheffield wind farm's power. Under the 20-year agreement, the utility will also purchase renewable energy certificates from the 40-megawatt wind project. Vermont Wind, which plans to build 420-foot tall towers housing the turbines, was granted a Certificate of Public Good by the state's Public Service Board in 2007. The Vermont Supreme Court affirmed the PSB's decision earlier this month. Vermont Wind is still seeking a stormwater permit for the project before construction can begin. Vermont Electric Cooperative, based in Johnson, is the state's third largest electric utility, serving about 34,000 members in rural Vermont. Burlington Electric announced this week an agreement to buy up to 40 percent of the electricity produced by the wind turbines. Under that 10-year agreement power will be provided at a fixed price.
