U.S. Sens. Arlen Specter and Bob Casey on Thursday announced that the Senate Appropriations Committee has approved federal funding for several Pennsylvania projects, including the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville.

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar said Tuesday that the National Park Service has reached agreements in principle with five of seven Somerset County property owners whose land is necessary for the construction of the Flight 93 Memorial.

The government has made "substantial progress" in negotiating with the seven landowners whose property is needed so the Flight 93 National Memorial can be built by the 10th anniversary of the Sept.
