State and local law officers in Marion and Sequatchie Counties are raising awareness about one of the most dangerous roads in their region.

The Department of Safety proposed cuts at a Thursday budget hearing that would affect driver's license fees and license station wait times.

'The numbers don't lie. More than fifty percent of people killed in traffic crashes last year were not wearing a safety belt,' said Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner Gerald Nicely.

'The House at Serenity Pointe would not exist if it weren't for the love that the Sequatchie Valley has for people in need,' said Debbie Morrison, who founded Serenity Pointe with her husband, Gerald, in April 2008.
