Scarsdale sets summer concert series
scarsdale - Every Thursday evening through Aug. 7, Chase Park in Scarsdale comes alive with the sound of music as part of the town's summer concert series. A special Fourth of July concert, including fireworks and a mix of patriotic and pop music, will be held will be held tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the Scarsdale Municipal Pool. The 70-piece Westchester Band was founded by Joseph 'Doc' Albright in 1969. Selections include pop, light classical, big band, Dixieland and Broadway tunes. This is the eighth year the band has been under the direction of Alan Hollander, former director of music at Edgemont High School. The free 'concerts under the stars' are sponsored principally by the Scarsdale Department of Parks and Recreation and the Friends of the Westchester Band. Bring lawn chairs or blankets; picnicking is encouraged. Chase Park is opposite the Post Office on Chase Road in Scarsdale Village. Call 914-328-5669 for information.
