Two killed in vehicle accident in Sargent

The Fourth of July weekend turned deadly for two Sargent visitors involved in a one-vehicle accident on County Road 201 just before 1 a.m. Sunday, July 5. The accident took the lives of driver Adam Michael Westbrook, 27, of Normangee and passenger Chadwick Reed Johnson, 22, of Richmond.

Wife is charged in Sargent man's slaying

Mary Katherine "Cathie" Grigsby was on a trip with her church the weekend her husband was killed, but that hasn't kept Matagorda County authorities from charging her with what they believe was "murder for hire." Police said Jack Grigsby, 72, was found by Cathie Grigsby, 59, inside his Old Caney Road home about 9 p.m. May 17.
