My sister lives across the street from the fire... it is NOWHERE near Gilroy or Felton. It's in Los Gatos. Hello...

Yes, a map would be quite helpful. The live pictures are great but can the newscopter crew taking the pictures indicate where they are? Some of the coordinates provided in the story unfortunately don't add up.

The reasoning is we may have to leave work and become part of the back up fire containement group if this fire jumps Highway 17 (Hopefully Not). This depends on how successful the professional firemen and fire women are in fighting the first fire and need additional volunteer support. Thank You

Its on the other side of the mountains from Gilroy, no where close to Los Gatos, looks like its south of Loma Prieta. Got a good look driving over the hill this morning.

Great Idea Larry Selman-Get an Overlay Map from Google on this one with overlays provided by the Weather Dudes at NBC- So we can get a better idea how close this fire is to our home, while we are working in Silicon Valley- Just Do It!

I wish the resident's of the area the best of luck with this. Hopefully the firefighters can get a handle on it and knock it down soon.

The fire is "NOT" in the Felton area!!!!
The fire "IS" in the hilss above Watsonville - near or at Ornsby Cutoff.
Your article states: "...The fire is burning about seven miles east of Highway 17..."
Felton is "west" of Hwy 17 and Watsonville is "east" of Hwy 17.

We live in the Summit area. My wife left to take the kids to school before it was announced that they were closing. Now she cannot return home, because of police blockades. She was stopped 5 minutes from our home, which is no where near being threatened at this time. That is stupid.

The fire is moving really fast. It stretches along Summit Road about a mile south from the top of Mt. Loma.

We're working on a new map. Meantime, listen to the live stream, we'll update as we get the info.

Anybody know if there's a better fire-tracking website with topo maps, fire boundaries, and showing the direction and speed of where the fire is moving? That would be informative...
