Let's just say if the VPOA weren't such a greedy bunch of vampires and there was a redistribution of wages we could all get along. Unless and until your cries of "babiiiiiies will die!!!" and shaking down the elderly fall on deaf ears.

As for Wells & Geist leaving (though heard Rich got fired before he retired), good riddance!

These are positive changes along with getting rid of Riley and Henke.

Yeah, and as you will surely attest, there is a high price to pay that goes along with that beefy salary. BTW, how's your blood pressure?

How does this start with CoC and end up at the same old arguement about about cops and their salaries. It should be about development in the City. The CoC does need to kick up their efforts and maybe the need to clean house. So should the Vistors Bureau and the Empress. These three areas have an obligation for actions to benefit the City and the Community. Why don't you spend some time asking questions to the right people. Speak up at Council meetings. Be specific, use examples, understand the process, DON'T act like Sam K, but ask for accountability.

I agree with Oh Brother ' stop making this about things it is not. Do you all know the Chamber is not a policy making organization for the city but more of a voice to city leaders regarding policy. We need leadership that will fight the crazy rules in city hall that turns business opportunities away because they want to save the water ways along Wilson Avenue or continue to focus on Renovating Downtown. I am in my 40s and they have been renovating as long as I can ever remeber. We are in very tough economic times so look at opportunities to improve such as making various organizations like the Chamber, VCVB, Film all one organization and anticipate the employees to seriously work.

i wish the city would suspend funding to the cvb.

Many positive groups and revenue do come from the VCVB efforts. During these difficult economic times i think we need to consolidate and not tax the business owners more who eventually pass it onto the potential customers who then choose to go to other citys. Much of what the VCVB does goes with minimal apperant benefits while Chamber is more upfront. Combining the two can increase revenues, have more buy in by all and reduce staff. We all must work harder during these tough times.

The City doesn't give money or fund the visitors bureau... but they are useless.... they all should be thrown out on their butts

The were combined but the VB broke away. Members of the Chamber pay dues to belong... but they too are as ineffective as VB. CoC's in other communities are vibrant in their zest to bring and support community businesses.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Scorpio

Be careful how you handle a certain someone today because their mood is little short of incendiary. They'll jump down your throat if you dare to disagree with them, and then accuse you of being a wimp if you decide that it would be better to agree with everything they say. You can't win! If they really get on your wick, you'll have to give them a piece of your mind, even if it is supposed to be the season of goodwill to all men. Huh!
