The beach water quality in San Diego County during the summer season was among the best in the state, although the Tijuana River mouth made the list of the state's most polluted beaches due to a sewage spill, according to Heal the Bay's 23rd annual Beach Report Card released Thursday.

First California coast survey kept ship traffic safe from San Francisco to San Diego
In 1854, there was no Pasadena to write about. We do have a copy of the "Report of the Superintendent of the Coast Survey Showing the Progress of the Survey during the Year 1853." There was much ship traffic up and down the coast and accurate maps and charts were important to maritime safety.
