Sounds like a blast. Has anyone done this and is it worth seeing?

Einstein probably considered everyone on the planet an idiot, as compared to himself. No wonder he helped to develop the bomb.

My dear friend acts as tour guide for Trinity. It's very fascinating indeed especially if you can see any Trininite while on the tour.

Yay - let's go irradiate ourselves!!!:)

Seriously, I get the historical significance (sp?)and gravity of what ocurred there. I get grumpy over the border patrol x-raying me on road trips to the west or north of town (invasion of privacy and exposing me to unwanted radiation...what constitution, where?), so why go somewhere that was definately the epicenter of radioactive activity? Surely some background levels are still there...

Einstein's work on relativity determined the correspondence between mass and energy that proved the possibility of a fission bomb. He was persuaded to write the famous letter to Roosevelt to encourage the Manhattan Project. He did NOT work on the bomb. He had serious moral issues with it, but also saw what the Nazi's were doing to Jews in Europe. The Allies were worried that the Nazis were developing the bomb to use on England, and, although it was in the development stages, never came to fruition. The use of the A-bomb was not intended for Japan at the outset.
